Authors' Review

Authors' Review

  • Are the rules and terms of submission easy to find?
    Yes.
  • Do you supply a beta reader for authors?
    No.
  • Are you polite about rejecting fics?
I try to be. But it is submission based, and most recommendations do not actually come from the authors themselves.
  • Do you remove author's notes or copyright notices without asking the author first?
Yes and No. I generally copy everything from the place I find the fic (including disclaimers, a/n etc.) I only submit the standard disclaimer if the fic is lacking it. I'm pretty happy to change anything once it's up though.
  • Do you ever archive fics without permission?
    Definitely not.
  • Are you prompt about removing fics at an author's request?
Yes and no. I'm as prompt as I possibly can be (i.e. camping - no computer access).
  • What is your plagiarism policy...do you investigate or do you take a complainant at their word?
I've had no experience in this area. Sorry, but I'd probably investigate.
  • Do you update at least once a month?
    Yes.
  • Do you make it possible for readers to leave feedback?
No (except author's email). perhaps I should look into this.
  • Is your location stable, or do you move frequently?
I have moved, but do not plan to move again.

Reader review

  • Is the site attractive?
Yes. The graphics are lovely, they don’t confuse the site, and occasionally the webmistress redoes the entire site’s layout. One of the more elegant fic archives that I've seen.
  • Is the site easy to navigate? (can you get to all the main sections from every page, or do they rely on the 'back' button an awful lot?)
Yes. The fics are listed on one page and open up in a new browser window. Once in the window, if it’s multi-part you can choose the chapter; once in a chapter, there are links to go to the previous and next chapter.
  • How selective is the archive? (Are you likely to find a good story?)
The archive seems to be rather selective; I’ve yet to read a bad story there. The stories are archived on the basis of recommendations that the webmistress goes through, rather than by submission.
  • Are they a specialty (ship or genre centric) or general (only ratings restrictions) archive?
    Draco/Harry only.
  • Is it easy to navigate within multi-chaptered stories?
It’s easy to get from one chapter to the next, but if you’re in chapter 5, then getting to ch. 9 will require a little bit of clicking.
  • Are there search engines? Are they easy to use?
There aren’t any search engines, but the fics are organised in many different ways (by author, by title, by rating, by length, by category) so if you know what you’re looking for it’s fairly easy to find a fic.
  • Are the indexes (author, title listings) clearly laid out?
    Yep.
  • Are stories appropriately labelled if they require warnings?
The links to the stories have ratings next to them, as does the first chapter of each fic. Also, one section of the archives has stories sorted according to rating.
  • How many pages do you have to search through to get to the first story?
multi-chapter fics: 4. if you go to the home page (1), there’s a link to the archives (2), and from there you can click on a story to get to an intro page with A/N, disclaimer, etc., and links to each chapter (3), and the link to a chapter takes you to the chapter proper (4).
    one-shots/short stories: 3.
  • Is it easy to leave feedback?
There aren’t any review boards (the forum is more for posting fics), but there’s a link to the author’s email in the intro page of a multi-chapter fic and the actual story page for a one-shot.
