Authors' Review Authors' Review
- Are the rules and terms of submission easy to find?
We do not have many rules except proper ratings/story codes, disclaimers, and NO PLAGIRISM! I have this
information permanently on the front page under the
story categories, and I am also working on a set of
FAQs for additional clarification. I addition, my
email is clearly out there for people to contact me
with any problems, and we have a mailing list for
support as well.
- Do you supply a beta reader for authors?
No, but we do have a section for "Tips and We have a Beta Reader Category in our Resources area,
anyone that wishes to offer Beta services may post
there, plus we have a mailing list that people may
post requests to.
- Are you polite about rejecting fics?
Since AFF.Net is an Auto Archive site and I strongly
believe in freedom of expression and personal
creativity, the only fics I will reject are plagirised
ones.
- Do you remove author's notes or copyright notices without asking the author first?
No, The only editing done to stories is by the Author
only.
- Do you ever archive fics without permission?
The only time a fiction is archived is if the Author
personally registers and uploads it.
- Are you prompt about removing fics at an author's request?
The Author has complete control over deletion and
editing, 24/7, 365 days a year.
- What is your plagiarism policy...do you investigate
or do you take a complainant at their word?
If I am notified of a possible case, I do not pull the
story until it has been reviewed by myself, and if
possible the Author of the original work. In the case
of someone plagirising a published work, I contact our
mailing list pool of 700+ and ask for a volunteer (or
two) with a copy of the book to review and send me
their objective opinion. If a case is proved, I privately notify the Author of
the offending work and give them a 48 hour deadline to
change or remove the story. If they do not act after
this time, I remove the story.
I strive to keep as many of the details as private as
possible, including the name of the story, the Author,
and any emails.
- Do you update at least once a month?
We update every minute! Literally! We had over 1.5
million hits in the month of December 2002.
- Do you make it possible for readers to leave feedback?
AFF.Net features a 1-5 star rating system as well as a
written review option, and we feature a hit counter on
each story so the Author nows exactly how many people
are looking at their work even if no reviews or
ratings are left.
- Is your location stable, or you they move frequently?
As of Mid Nov 2002, we are hosted by a stable, high
speed connection, and I have no plans to move unless
the quality of service degrades to a point where I am
forced to find a new home.
